Autorail X 240

Autorail X 240

1983

These railcars were built for the Blanc-Argent network, where the axle load was limited to 8 tons. The design was made by CFD's engineering and design department, including for the boiler, which was built by Socofer.

Although these railcars are based on some of the construction principles of the Corsican X5000 railcar, but with a single engine and a Voith T211 gearbox, this is in fact a new study as the constraints linked to weight limitation are so important.
